Hot Insulation

Hot Insulation

When hot insulation is applied , the entire system shall be completely insulated, including all parts, such as piping, instrumentation lines, drains stiffeners, ribs, nozzles etc. which shall have the same insulation thickness. For hot insulation system it is essential that no water penetrates into the insulation. Water in an insulation system will diminish its insulating valve. It may eventually lead to process disturbance and underlagging corrosion. To prevent water in the insulation material, an appropriate finishing shall be deleted and executed in accordance with the specification. Besides the industrial insulation, for building insulation of residential or commercial usage, waterproof, acoustic and fire resistance are the main performance.

Cold Insulation

Cold Insulation

The cold insulation covers the technical requirements for design and installation of low temperature insulation on piping and equipment with operating temperature between ambient temperature -200˚C. Cold insulation is defined as piping and equipment at operating temperatures continuous or intermittent, below ambient temperature, where reduction of heat gain and or prevention of surface condensations is desired. For cold piping temporarily having elevated operating temperatures or cleaning/drying temperatures, the use of FEF, PIR/PUR and CG shall be allowed. A cold system shall consist of one or more layers of insulation material , which is covered on the outside with a vapor barrier: the primary vapor barrier. Offset position and lagging installation is the important process.

Insulation Cover

Insulation Cover

Metal or non-metallic jacketing cover shall be applied to protect the underlying insulation material against weather,UV, from the environment. The jacketing shall be without counter-swages and be constructed such that any condensation moist can drain from the cladding, is faced with stainless steel band and clip, sealed with mastic or sealant. Above stainless steel piping ,equipment, tank etc. no zinc contain material shall be applied in order to prevent stainless steel from embrittlement by liquid zinc after a fire. The finishing layer shall be of even thickness across the surface . Offset overlapping and waterproof position shall be considered while installation .
